A Multi-Divisional Perspective on What's Next in International Migration and Displacement Research

PDW Overview:
Globalization, climate change, and wars have created record-high numbers of migrants across the globe. These progressively complex migration and displacement patterns confront organizational scholars with numerous questions and challenges, which this multi-divisional workshop seeks to explore in order to identify future themes in research on (labor) migration and displacement.
As part of the session, a diverse panel of international scholars from many of Academy's divisions will debate future themes in research on international migration and displacement. Participants include:

The panel debate will focus on the following themes, among others: (1) The challenges of doing migrant and refugee research with relevance to management; (2) key similarities, differences, and synergies between research on "migrants" and "refugees"; (3) the role of sociopolitical context; (4) methodological and levels of analysis issues, and (5) critical assessment of research on migrant status vis-a-vis other diversity attributes, such as religion, ethnicity/race, and language.
Panelists will also facilitate roundtable discussions with PDW participants centered on key themes with an international and global scope. Input for roundtable discussion topics will be solicited from participants upon registration. In conclusion of the session, we will draw key lessons and seek to continue the debate on these topics by inviting the participants to join a collaborative online forum.
This interactive PDW targets junior and senior academics who live and work worldwide to facilitate a multi-way perspective-taking and exchange on migrant and refugee research. The PDW bridges the discussion between scholars in international management, social issues and business ethics, critical management, and diversity and inclusion, amongst others, fostering a multi-divisional integration of how to understand and address one of today's grand challenges.
